Nominations for Open Positions on the NTG

Board of Directors

The National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices (NTG) is seeking motivated, innovative, and  result-oriented leaders to contribute to the NTG’s mission in advocacy for adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other causes of dementia – as well as their families and friends.

 

Founded in 2010, The NTG is the premier national not-for-profit organization charged with ensuring that the interests of the above individuals are considered as part of the National Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease.

 

The NTG

  • Works to ensure that the concerns and needs of people with IDD and their families, when affected by dementia, are considered as part of any state or national dementia mitigation or support efforts.

  • Advocates for services and supports for people with IDD and their families.

  • Promotes broader capabilities of the workforce and agencies serving persons affected by Alzheimer's disease and other causes of dementia.

  • Produces materials related to dementia, including practice guidelines, screening tools, education and training curricula and workshops, agency and family-based information, and other technical materials.

  • Consults on public policy affecting persons with IDD living with dementia

  • Provides technical assistance and advice to national organizations and federal agencies.

 

The NTG is governed by a Board of Directors, an active and engaged working group. composed of volunteers.  Members are expected to attend meetings, actively participate, possibly lead a committee, and contribute to the workings of the NTG. Involvement generally entails 3 to 4 hours per month.  We are seeking nominations for two vacant Board seats as well as increasing the diversity of the Board. Self-nominations are welcome.
